About "My 2020 Vision"

My vision is that by the year 2020, we will have a government controlled by common sense. This blog outlines my beliefs and shows what kind of a candidate I would like to have for president, senator, or representative. I'll also comment a couple of times a week on the political news.

The parties in power lack common sense. They are only after power to keep themselves in office. The Democrat Party is beholden to special interests and radical groups. The GOP promises small government and lower taxes, yet spends more and puts us deep in debt.

Can a current Third Party can take up the vision? Current third parties are very restricted in their membership due to their views. The “Constitutionalists” are right-wing evangelicals who don’t know how to compromise and move things their way step-by-step. The “Libertarians” are viewed by most people as druggies who want their way of life legalized. The “Green” party is seen as being composed of left-wing environmentalists who would like nothing more that for the human race to die out. I could go on, but the others are so small that it doesn’t bear wasting electrons to store and transmit the data.

Am I a liberal, a conservative, or a middle of the roader? That depends. What is the issue? On social issues, I tend toward liberal. On foreign policy, I’m in the middle. On fiscal issues, I’m pragmatic. On moral issues, I’m conservative. On the Constitution, I lean toward “original meaning.”

This blog will explain my views on major issues that confront our country today. Here is an outline. If I’m missing anything, please let me know and I’ll make an update. Please feel free to comment. I’m open to evolving my views on many issues if logical arguments are given which change my mind. I’m all for open discussion in the marketplace of ideas. Let’s pool our minds—no single person has a corner on knowledge or wisdom.
